Forest School
Forest School
We are very lucky at Nansen to have our own Forest School area.
The Forest school provides opportunities that classrooms cannot provide. Forest Schools is a multi-sensory experience. It can help improve concentration and the motivation to learn.
Here are just some of the opportunities given to the children:
Shelter building, fire lighting, cooking on an open fire, tool use, studying wildlife, playing team and group games, sensory activities, climbing trees, rope and string work and tying knots.
The learning at our Forest school is endless! With the holistic approach, Forest School helps children to gain more independence and self-confidence, reduce anxiety, build resilience, and improve their communication skills. The activities help develop their fine and gross motor skills as well as explore and appreciate nature. Taking the learning outside, gives the children hands on experience. Many aspects of the curriculum can benefit from using the forest school to engage or embed learning.
